Senior Electronics Lead / Architect
Bray, Co. Wicklow | Permanent | Primarily Office-Based
We are working with an innovative product development and engineering consultancy to recruit a Senior Electronics Lead / Architect.
This is a senior technical role for an experienced electronics engineer who enjoys creative problem-solving, autonomy and working across disciplines. You will work on challenging product development projects, taking concepts from early-stage architecture through prototyping, development and design for manufacture.
Key Responsibilities

Lead electronics architecture and development across complex product development programmes.

Translate product concepts and customer requirements into practical electronics architectures.

Define the partitioning of functionality between hardware and embedded software.

Lead projects from concept and technology demonstrators through to product release.

Design and develop embedded electronics, including battery-powered platforms and wireless technologies.

Work hands-on with hardware, firmware and prototypes to solve complex technical challenges.

Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, design, research and product teams.

Engage directly with clients and communicate technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Support regulatory compliance and design for manufacture.

Mentor and develop less experienced engineers.

Contribute to innovation, sustainability and new technology development.
Requirements

Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline; Master’s or PhD desirable.

Significant experience developing embedded electronic systems and architectures.

Strong understanding of embedded processors, wireless communications and battery technologies.

Strong embedded software skills, particularly low-level C, device drivers and platform bring-up.

Experience taking products through the full development lifecycle from concept to market.

Experience designing for regulatory compliance within consumer or similarly complex products.

Strong understanding of hardware/software integration.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Proven ability to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable

Experience with Nordic microcontrollers and Zephyr RTOS.

Consumer electronics or wearable technology experience.
-
Battery management and low-power system design.
-
Experience working across electronics, mechanical and software boundaries.

Experience with sustainable or circular electronics design.
