Principal Digital IC Design Engineer – Cork

A leading global semiconductor innovator is seeking an experienced Principal Digital IC Design Engineer to join its high-calibre team in Cork. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated design engineer with deep expertise in ASIC or SoC environments to play a pivotal role in developing next-generation IC architectures, driving innovation from concept through to silicon validation.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop advanced IC architectures and specify complex digital and mixed-signal system blocks, including RISC/ARM processors, DSP cores, and communications interfaces.

  • Perform block-level, system-level and chip-level verification to ensure robust, production-ready designs.

  • Lead and participate in design reviews, roadmap planning and structured design improvements.

  • Prototype and evaluate power control schemes using FPGA platforms for real-world validation.

  • Own low-power ASIC design tasks through the full lifecycle — concept, synthesis, timing closure and post-layout evaluation.

  • Implement Design-For-Testability (DFT), including ATPG, and support ATE data reviews, yield analysis and cross-functional collaboration with test, product and operations teams.

  • Maintain rigorous documentation aligned with quality processes.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 7+ years of proven digital IC design experience within ASIC/SoC environments.

  • PhD, postgraduate or degree in Electronic Engineering or related discipline.

  • Deep knowledge of power conversion concepts and applications.

  • Strong Verilog RTL coding, simulation and synthesis expertise.

  • Hands-on experience with FPGA prototyping and real-world power control evaluation.

  • Solid background in DSP or computational hardware design.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, able to work independently and collaboratively across diverse teams.

  • Effective communicator with a track record of delivering in dynamic, multi-disciplinary environments.

What’s On Offer:

  • A senior technical position shaping the future of low-power, high-performance IC designs.

  • Opportunities to innovate and contribute to a robust technology roadmap.

  • Work alongside some of the industry’s most experienced engineers in a supportive, collaborative setting.

  • Competitive compensation, career development and the chance to make a significant impact at a global scale.
