Principal Digital IC Design Engineer – Cork
A leading global semiconductor innovator is seeking an experienced Principal Digital IC Design Engineer to join its high-calibre team in Cork. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated design engineer with deep expertise in ASIC or SoC environments to play a pivotal role in developing next-generation IC architectures, driving innovation from concept through to silicon validation.
What You’ll Do:

Develop advanced IC architectures and specify complex digital and mixed-signal system blocks, including RISC/ARM processors, DSP cores, and communications interfaces.

Perform block-level, system-level and chip-level verification to ensure robust, production-ready designs.

Lead and participate in design reviews, roadmap planning and structured design improvements.

Prototype and evaluate power control schemes using FPGA platforms for real-world validation.

Own low-power ASIC design tasks through the full lifecycle — concept, synthesis, timing closure and post-layout evaluation.

Implement Design-For-Testability (DFT), including ATPG, and support ATE data reviews, yield analysis and cross-functional collaboration with test, product and operations teams.

Maintain rigorous documentation aligned with quality processes.
What You’ll Bring:

7+ years of proven digital IC design experience within ASIC/SoC environments.

PhD, postgraduate or degree in Electronic Engineering or related discipline.

Deep knowledge of power conversion concepts and applications.

Strong Verilog RTL coding, simulation and synthesis expertise.

Hands-on experience with FPGA prototyping and real-world power control evaluation.

Solid background in DSP or computational hardware design.

Excellent problem-solving skills, able to work independently and collaboratively across diverse teams.

Effective communicator with a track record of delivering in dynamic, multi-disciplinary environments.
