The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Analog IC Design Engineer to join a global semiconductor technology organisation with an established R&D operation in Limerick.
Working within a specialist power management design team, you will take ownership of complex analogue IP from definition and architecture through design, verification, silicon evaluation and release to manufacturing.
The team develops advanced power management ICs and mixed-signal solutions for applications spanning automotive, industrial, consumer and emerging technology markets.
This is a senior technical role offering the opportunity to influence architecture, solve complex analogue design challenges and provide technical leadership across multiple development programmes.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the definition, design and delivery of multiple analogue IC IP blocks through to manufacturing.

Provide technical leadership across architecture, circuit design, verification, layout and silicon evaluation.

Develop and optimise power management circuits and mixed-signal designs.

Work closely with physical design teams to guide IC layout and implementation.

Collaborate with verification, validation, product and test engineering teams through to production release.

Investigate and resolve complex silicon and design issues using simulation and laboratory testing.

Contribute to product definition, technical roadmaps and new concept development.

Develop project schedules, monitor technical progress and manage design priorities.

Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance across the wider design team.

Support documentation including product briefs, datasheets and application material.
Technical Expertise
-
Strong analogue IC design experience, ideally within power management.
-
Experience with power converter architectures including Buck, Boost, LDOs, gate drivers, regulators and current-mode control.

Knowledge of multiphase controllers, power stages and mixed-signal control loops.

Experience with DC-DC PMIC/POL, AC-DC converters, LED drivers or high-voltage power devices would be advantageous.

Strong understanding of analogue building blocks and circuit design fundamentals.

Experience debugging complex silicon issues through simulation and bench testing.

Knowledge of Bipolar, CMOS and high-voltage BCD technologies, device physics and semiconductor manufacturing.

Experience with Cadence Spectre and IC design/tape-out flows.

Experience with SIMPLIS, MATLAB or similar architectural simulation tools.

Understanding of power transistor design, layout and robustness would be beneficial.
Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline with approximately 7+ years’ experience, or Master’s degree with 5+ years’ relevant experience.

Proven track record delivering complex analogue ICs or IP through to manufacturing.

Strong technical leadership and problem-solving capability.

Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
