Senior Reliability Engineer – Semiconductor Technology

The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Reliability Engineer to join a global technology organisation with an established semiconductor engineering operation in Cork.
Working within a highly technical R&D environment, you will be responsible for the reliability assessment, verification and qualification of advanced semiconductor technologies.
The role combines hands-on laboratory work, semiconductor device characterisation, accelerated reliability testing, data analysis and failure investigation. You will manage multiple qualification programmes and contribute to the development of next-generation semiconductor technologies.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and execute semiconductor reliability, verification and qualification programmes.

Develop qualification plans incorporating risk analysis and appropriate test strategies.

Conduct device characterisation and detailed electrical measurements.

Design and execute accelerated reliability testing using temperature, voltage, current and other stresses.

Analyse test data to identify degradation, trends and potential failure mechanisms.

Conduct failure analysis and root-cause investigations.

Set up, modify and maintain laboratory test equipment and instrumentation.

Develop technical reports and communicate findings and recommendations to engineering stakeholders.

Ensure reliability and qualification activities comply with relevant semiconductor industry standards and requirements.

Manage multiple concurrent qualification projects.

Support and mentor junior engineers and interns.
Technical Expertise
-
Strong experience in semiconductor reliability testing and qualification.
-
Knowledge of semiconductor device physics, failure mechanisms and electrical measurement techniques.
-
Experience with compound semiconductor technologies would be highly desirable.

Strong statistical and data analysis skills; experience with Minitab or JMP would be advantageous.

Practical laboratory and instrumentation experience.

Experience with LabVIEW, Python, C or similar for instrumentation control or automated data analysis would be beneficial.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Experience with thermal or physical simulation would be advantageous.

Knowledge of RF circuit design would be beneficial.
Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or a related discipline, with approximately 4–6 years’ relevant experience.

Alternatively, a Master’s degree with 3–4 years’ relevant reliability or semiconductor experience.

A PhD in a semiconductor-related discipline with relevant academic or industry experience will also be considered.

Experience in semiconductor reliability, qualification, verification, testing or quality engineering.

Strong communication, organisation and project management skills.
Recent PhD graduates with research focused on semiconductor technologies are also encouraged to apply.
