Our client is a leading Irish technology company with a global presence, renowned for designing and manufacturing innovative electronic products used in safety-critical applications. With research, development and manufacturing co-located at its Irish headquarters, the company offers a highly collaborative engineering environment where new products are developed from concept through to high-volume production.

As the business continues to invest in next-generation connected technologies and IoT solutions, they are seeking an experienced Senior R&D Project Manager to lead complex multidisciplinary product development programmes. This role is fully on-site in Shannon.

The Role

Reporting to the R&D Programme Manager, you will take ownership of multiple new product development projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Working across engineering, manufacturing, quality and supply chain teams, you will drive projects from concept through design, validation and production using structured project management methodologies.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technical Project Manager who enjoys working closely with engineering teams developing sophisticated electronic products.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional product development projects from concept through to production.

• Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, risks and resource plans.

• Drive projects through structured stage-gate development processes.

• Monitor project progress and communicate status, risks and mitigation plans to senior stakeholders.

• Coordinate activities across hardware, embedded software, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, quality and test teams.

• Manage project scope, timelines and change control processes.

• Ensure projects meet regulatory, quality and product compliance requirements.

• Identify opportunities to improve project delivery processes and best practices.

About You

You will bring strong project management experience within an engineering-led product development environment together with the leadership skills to coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams.

You will ideally have:

• Degree qualification in Engineering, Science or a related technical discipline.

• Formal Project Management qualification such as PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent.

• Approximately eight or more years’ experience managing engineering or electronics product development projects.

• Experience delivering projects using structured project management methodologies and stage-gate processes.

• Excellent stakeholder management, leadership and communication skills.

• Strong planning, organisational and risk management capabilities.

• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced technical environment.

Exposure to several of the following would be highly advantageous:

• Electronic hardware development.

• Embedded software or firmware development.

• Mechanical product design.

• IoT or connected products.

• Product validation, verification and certification.

• Regulated industries such as life safety, medical devices or industrial electronics.

• Project management tools such as MS Project, Jira, Confluence, Monday.com or similar.

• Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
