The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Manager to join a newly established Future Technologies team within a global technology organisation in Cork.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a growing engineering function focused on Advanced Development and new-to-world technologies, working at the forefront of innovation rather than solely on established product development.
The team is developing next-generation power technologies for the medical devices sector, supporting innovative applications across surgery, diagnostics and therapeutic care. Projects include technologies with potential applications in life-changing and life-saving treatments, including advanced laser-based systems for cancer treatment and other emerging surgical technologies.
As Engineering Manager, you will lead the team from early-stage concept development through technology maturation and ultimately towards commercialisation. You will have significant influence over technology strategy, technical direction, team development and future product investment.

Key responsibilities

Lead and grow a talented engineering team developing next-generation technologies for medical applications.

Drive the identification, evaluation and maturation of emerging technologies, taking innovative concepts towards commercially viable products.

Lead engineering development programmes from early concepts through development and commercialisation.

Establish a culture of technical curiosity, experimentation, innovation and continuous improvement.

Provide visible technical leadership and influence architectural decisions, technology platforms and future product investment.

Develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with wider business and technology objectives.

Build strong relationships with customers, Product Management and Advanced Development teams to understand complex technical requirements and develop innovative solutions.

Identify and develop future technical and people leaders within the organisation.

Build a high-performance engineering culture balancing innovation, accountability, collaboration and execution.

Manage engineering programmes, resources and budgets to ensure successful delivery.

Contribute to the continued growth and development of the wider engineering organisation.

Experience & qualifications

Honours Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.

Minimum 8 years’ experience within an electronics development environment.

Minimum 5 years’ experience leading or managing engineering projects and engineering teams.

Demonstrable engineering leadership experience, ideally within a technology or product development environment.

Experience developing and executing engineering project budgets.

Demonstrable experience of technology innovation and intellectual property development.

Strong technical and commercial understanding of product and technology development.

Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.

A genuine interest in emerging technologies and developing high-performing engineering teams.
Location & travel
Little Island, Cork – On-site
The role will involve approximately 20% domestic and international travel.
