Electronic Design Engineer

Our client, a global technology and engineering organisation, is seeking an Electronic Design Engineer to join its engineering team in Cork.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the design and development of highly engineered electronic systems used in demanding, high-reliability applications. The successful candidate will work across the full product development lifecycle, from design and validation through to manufacturing support, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust and innovative technical solutions.

The role would suit an engineer with experience in electronic design who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and working in a collaborative product development environment.

Please note that this is an on-site position based in Cork.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyse and support electronic systems, products and circuit-level solutions to meet performance, quality, cost and schedule objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of new products and enhancements to existing platforms.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues relating to design performance, reliability, manufacturability and test performance.
  • Develop and execute validation and verification activities to confirm design requirements are met.
  • Support product introduction and manufacturing activities, working closely with operations and quality teams.
  • Apply analytical and experimental techniques to evaluate concepts, designs and technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with customers, engineering teams and other stakeholders to gather requirements and develop effective solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Follow established engineering processes, quality standards and change control procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 3+ years of experience in electronic design and development.
  • Strong understanding of analogue and digital electronic circuit design, analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Experience using engineering design, simulation and laboratory test equipment.
  • Knowledge of component selection, design validation and product development methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical challenges.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Power Electronics or a related discipline.
  • Experience within regulated, high-reliability or safety-critical industries.
  • Exposure to medical technology, healthcare devices, industrial systems or other complex electronic products.
  • Experience supporting products through development, verification and manufacturing phases.
  • Familiarity with structured product development and engineering change processes.
