Electrical Design Engineer
Killarney, Co. Kerry | Permanent | Onsite
We are working with an established international engineering and manufacturing organisation to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer to join its project engineering team.
This is a project-based role responsible for delivering high-quality electrical designs, integrating electrical systems and supporting projects from initial requirements through design, production, commissioning and customer delivery.
Key Responsibilities

Analyse customer requirements and define electrical system requirements.

Manage electrical requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Liaise with customers regarding electrical design requirements.

Develop electrical system interfaces, schematics and single-line diagrams.

Define control console layouts and functions.

Develop specifications for electrical equipment and switchgear.

Coordinate the integration of electrical subsystems and solutions.

Work closely with software engineers to define electrical interfaces and support software testing.

Support commissioning teams with functional and test requirements.

Specify electrical components and support supplier selection and procurement.

Prepare electrical parts lists and production documentation.

Liaise with production, installation and service teams to support assembly, testing and customer issues.

Support the selection and testing of new technologies and electrical subsystems.

Prepare technical documentation for assembly, installation, commissioning and customers.
-
Review project issues and ensure documentation is updated to reflect completed systems.

Provide onsite technical support and travel internationally as required.
Requirements
-
Level 7 degree or higher in Electrical, Electronic, Automation, Mechatronic Engineering or a related discipline.

Strong electrical design and engineering capability.

Experience with Zuken E3 or a similar electrical drawing package.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage technical requirements, priorities and project schedules.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Confident challenging existing approaches and adopting new technologies.
-
Willingness to travel internationally as required.
Desirable
-
Knowledge of risk analysis, safety compliance and Performance Levels (PLr/SIL).
-
Experience with ABB PLCs.
-
Knowledge of industrial Ethernet networks.

Experience within heavy machinery or complex industrial environments.
